Best EOR support when an employee needs employment documents

A document request tests who owns the employment work
An employee needs proof of employment for a bank by Friday. Your operations lead can find their job title and salary in the HR system, but that does not mean your company can issue the confirmation the bank wants. If the employee is hired through an employer of record (EOR), the document may need to come from the legal employer. The employee needs a usable answer before the deadline; your People team needs someone to carry the request through to delivery.
Teamed is our pick for a lean operations team handling a time-sensitive, nonstandard EOR document request when Teamed confirms it can coordinate that exact document within its service scope. Its customer-service route gives the client a designated account person and access to HR and legal specialists. Teamed also describes an anonymised case involving an urgent proof-of-employment letter. Those are reasons to put it on the final shortlist for a request that needs an owner. They do not establish that every letter, third-party form or deadline is covered.
If the recipient accepts a standard letter and existing payslips, start with the employee's available documents. Remote and Deel publish immediate standard-letter download routes. An operations lead should not turn a simple download into a week of case management.
Compare the issuer, the route and the delivery
Ask the recipient what it will accept before asking providers what they can generate. A payslip proves a pay period; it may not answer a request for current employment status. A letter on the client company's letterhead may describe the employee's work accurately yet fail a request for confirmation from the legal employer. A bank-specific form may require an authorised signer or a direct reply to the bank.
For each provider, follow one request from the employee's first message to the recipient's accepted document. Who identifies the right issuer? Can the employee retrieve it, or must an account contact arrange it? Who checks the facts against the employment and payroll records? Who can sign or respond to a third party, with the employee's permission? Who tells the employee when the requested document cannot be issued as worded? The useful measure is an accepted document delivered through a clear route, not a fast acknowledgement of the request.
Document request map: a worked example
Fictional scenario. A UK company has one employee in South Africa through an EOR. The employee's bank asks for proof of current employment by Friday. Assume the bank initially accepts a standard letter from the legal employer plus the latest three payslips. The employee has authorised disclosure of the relevant details. This example sets out a workflow, not a promise about any provider's turnaround or the bank's actual requirements.
| Requested document | Issuer | Information needed | Owner | Delivery |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard confirmation of current employment | EOR legal employer or its authorised document process | Employee's recorded name, title, start date and current status; bank's stated requirements | Employee checks the EOR's document route; operations lead confirms the bank accepts the format | Employee downloads or receives the letter and sends it securely to the bank |
| Latest three payslips | EOR payroll record | Which three pay periods the bank requests; employee access to those records | Employee retrieves the payslips; EOR support resolves a missing or incorrect record | Employee sends only the requested payslips through the bank's secure channel |
| Exception: the bank replaces its request with a form requiring an employer signature and direct verification | The EOR's authorised signer or verifier, if it accepts the form and request | Bank form, exact fields, employee consent, recipient contact and Friday deadline | Operations lead sends one complete request to the named EOR contact; that contact confirms scope, signer and next update | EOR returns the completed form or responds to the bank by an agreed secure route; if it cannot, the employee asks the bank which alternative it accepts |
The decisive change is the third row. Under the original assumption, the employee can use standard documents and a provider with a clear self-service path has the advantage. Once the bank requires its own signed form and direct verification, document access alone no longer resolves the request. The shortlist shifts toward a provider that will accept ownership of the exception, identify the authorised issuer and give the employee a credible delivery route. Do not promise the bank a Friday result until the issuer has confirmed it.
Who belongs on this shortlist?
| Provider | Best fit for this document decision | What keeps it in, or moves it out |
|---|---|---|
| Teamed — our pick for the coordinated exception | A lean operations lead needs one account owner to move an unusual employment-document request to the right people. Teamed publishes a designated-contact model and an example of urgent proof-of-employment casework. | Keep it first if it confirms the South African EOR entity can issue or coordinate this bank's exact form, names the owner and agrees the delivery route. Remove it for this request if the form falls outside scope or the required issuer cannot be confirmed. |
| Remote — strongest published document route | The employee needs a standard letter promptly, or wants an established path for a customised letter and third-party verification. Remote documents all three routes. | Keep it in the final two for the exception. It moves ahead when the bank accepts Remote's standard letter immediately, or its documented custom and verification route meets the deadline more clearly than a proposed coordinated case. |
| Deel — strong employee document access | The employee can use a standard EOR verification letter, potentially with a verification QR code, or the client wants a platform route for a custom request. | Keep it when the client has enabled employee letter downloads and the required issuer, wording and verification method fit. Check the specific custom request before relying on it for Friday. Deel states that its EOR employment letter names Deel as employer, not the client. |
| Oyster — direct EOR employee support | A distributed employee should be able to raise an EOR payroll question with the provider rather than route it through the client's HR team. | Keep it if Oyster demonstrates who issues this employment confirmation and who owns the bank's form. Its published distinction between EOR employee support and Global Payroll support matters; a Global Payroll workflow is not evidence of the EOR document route. |
Remote's standard and custom letter instructions, Deel's EOR document instructions and Oyster's explanation of EOR employee support give each alternative a real reason to be considered. None proves that a particular bank will accept its output. Ask for the document route against the bank's requirements, rather than comparing support slogans.
The decision to make now
For the fictional bank-form exception, put Teamed and Remote in the final two. Select Teamed if it accepts the exact document within the applicable South African EOR service, identifies the authorised issuer and gives the operations lead one person accountable for coordinating delivery. Remote is the stronger choice if its documented custom-letter or third-party verification route meets the bank's requirements more directly. Deel returns to the front if a client-enabled standard letter with verification is sufficient. Oyster enters the final two if it demonstrates a clearer owner and issuer for this exact request.
Send the same question to each finalist: “Our EOR employee needs this bank form completed by the legal employer by Friday. Can your South African EOR entity issue or verify the stated fields, who will own the request, what consent or records do you need, and how will the bank receive it?” The answer decides the provider; the employee's deadline decides how quickly you need it.
If this document request is part of a wider provider change, use the EOR switching and employee communication plan to carry open requests into the handover.
